Last night I ended up going out to a few parties with the folks I met the night before plus or minus a few – the film maker, the radio journalist, a few teachers and several others.

I’m glad to say I made it less than a week before being robbed. I was lucky – I wasn’t carrying my passport. And although I lost a whack of money in terms here, in reality it was probably only $150 or so. Though it’s hard to tell.

One of the women was driving us around in her jeep, with three of us sitting in the back. We ended up a bit lost and an a not so nice part of town. At some point, someone – get this – reached into the cab of the jeep, with all of us sitting in it and stole my purse. I bloody well didn’t notice.

I expected to be mugged, I expected my hotel room to be robbed. I did not, however, expect to be robbed by someone reaching into a car and taking a purse OFF my shoulder without me noticing. I feel like an idiot.

But life goes on. I’m back on the phone hunt today (the phone they sold me didn’t work so I had to take it back). A good nap will also be welcome. I didn’t manage to get in until almost 4 a.m.

Ahh yes, and the icing on the cake was walking into the bathroom this morning and seeing a decapitated, massacred rat. The rat was in about 5 pieces. And very large, this is no wussy Canadian rat we’re talking about. I’m of mixed emotions about the rat. First off, it stinks that there are rats, but really I think it’s just part of life here. Second, I was darn proud of our cat for doing her duty. Keep up the good work.
